Checking the status of your warranty is surprisingly simple. All you need is the device’s serial number or IMEI and a link to the warranty agreement search. I’ll get to that in a minute. First, let’s talk serial numbers and IMEI. Do you know where yours is? If not, don’t worry. There are a number of ways to find it.
 

How to check your warranty 2Finding the serial number or IMEI

  1. On the iPhone 3G – 4S: Remove the SIM tray. Both the serial number and IMEI will be printed on the tray.
  2. On iPhone 5 – 5s: Check the back casing. The IMEI is the first 14 digits printed in tiny print.
  3. In iTunes: if your device is still in working order, you can find the serial number by plugging it in iTunes. Select the device’s summary tab in iTunes when connected to see the serial number.
  4. On your device: if your device is still working, go to Settings > General > About, and tap and hold “Serial Number” or “IMEI” from the list of items to copy it.
  5. Still can’t find it: Check here for a list of ways to find your device’s serial numbers.

Checking the status of your service and support coverage

Once you know your device’s serial number or IMEI, you can find out if you are still covered under Apple’s warranty.

Step 1: Visit Apple’s Warranty Agreement search here.

Step 2: Enter your device’s serial number or IMEI.

Step 3: Click “Continue.”

You will then be directed to your device’s current service and support coverage, including the purchase date, telephone support status and estimated expiration date, and repairs and service coverage and estimated expiration date.
